Sunday Afternoon Tea

Today Celeste and I decided to host a tea party for Sophia and Chloe! They had a smashing time talking with accents, dressing up, listening to The Best of Tchaikovsky (Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, and The Nutcracker), drinking LOTS of tea, eating Spiced Shortbread Cookies and French Vanilla Cake! Needless to say, they weren't very hungry when it came time for dinner. ;)

In this picture, Chloe is savoring a Spiced Shortbread cookie. They were pretty good, despite being over-baked.

We had milk and sugar to add to the tea...........and the girls loved it.

Aren't they cute!! We all had so much fun being together and being silly!

Remember to keep your pinkie up! ;-)


After having our fill of tea and cakes, the girls had fun dancing to Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker". Although, I think Celeste had the most fun dancing! ;)

On another note, for those of you who don't know yet, my mom is PREGNANT!!! YEA!!!! Number 8 is on the way!! Please keep her in prayer as morning sickness tends to be an issue!

Big Sis with Little Sis


This is my little sister Sohpia! She LOVES to dress-up and look pretty. She also loves to take pictures. I took this picture when we had some down time, and I could tell that she needed some big sis love!

I am Sophia's "buddy" and in being her buddy, there are several responsibilities! Celeste is Chloe's buddy and Celeste does a lot of the same things for Chloe as I do for Sophia. Some of the duties include getting them dressed (day clothes, pj's, etc..), doing their hair, helping them with their school work, helping them with their chores, and just being there for them when they need us the most! Now, I don't only do these things for Sophia, but for all of my siblings as well! My prayer is that I will always be a godly example for ALL of my siblings and to assist my parents in teaching them to be godly examples to their younger siblings! I love them so much, and I want the best for them. It is my desire to see them grow up knowing how to be godly young women and men, and how to be there for one another. I am not perfect and am always learning myself, but I know that God will show my younger siblings, through the diligence of my parents, and the assistance of Celeste and me, how to follow God in everything they do! And in doing so they will be the best big sisters/brothers to their younger sisters/brothers than I could ever imagine! Sophia, I am so honored to be your big sister and to be able to play a major role in your life!

The River of Sundace Ridge


A couple of days ago, we had a tad bit of flooding occur over the nature trails behind our house. Here's where you would enter the trails from my house! This happened in only about 20 minutes of down pour! Talk about a flash flood!

Here you can see a bench that is half way under water! The trail continues on the other side.

This is the view from our back porch. Fortunately, the water is still quite a ways from the fence.

All of this is due to it raining for several days, and this last down pour was all it took. We were so amazed at how fast it became a river, and how strong the current was! If it rains any more we might have a river in our back yard! Well, at least our foundation is 8ft high!

Finally Some Time To Blog

Wow, so much has happened since my last post. My family and I have been very busy! As you may know, we moved about two months ago (has it been two months already?) and have completely unpacked everything. YES!! The move itself wasn't terrible nor was the unpacking; the hardest task has been getting our yard in shape. It will take some time to fight all the weeds that have taken over, especially the STICKER WEEDS!!!!!! The saying that comes to mind is “Pull one, two grow in its place". Oh yeah, and the scripture “take dominion over the land". Those weeds are the most painful things to pull. Ouch!!! Well, enough about weeds, I'll tell you about the decorating! It has been lots of fun decorating this house because we know this is where we will be, Lord willing, forever. We have curtains up in the living room, curtain rods up in some of the bedrooms, and a beautiful new dinning room table that comfortably seats all nine of us! AAAHHH, this house is going to look gorgeous when we're done. And I just want to say “Thank You" to everyone who helped make this move smooth and easy. You have been a blessing to our family!

Yea!!!! I have less than two months to go until I can get my Driver's License, which MUST mean I am almost 16 Years Old!!!!!! :) :) :) Can't wait!!

We have already begun school and I am actually excited because this is going to be an important year for me. I will be taking the SAT's, so I will mentally prepare for that. I also have a couple of new subjects, so needless to say, I shouldn't be bored. HeHe!

I have just begun to play offertory at church, and will hopefully do so once a month. I am hoping that in doing so it will help me get over my nervousness. The next song I plan to play is How Great Thou Art. This arrangement is beautiful, although I still may tweak it a little.

Well, I think that's about it.........untill next time! :)

Oh, I almost forgot! Celeste sprained her foot falling about half way down the stairs. Poor Celeste! :( Please pray for quick healing!

Recipes

Ooooooo, doesn't this look good!! It's called a Cinnamon Biscuit Fan! It actually tastes nothing like a biscuit! The outside is good, but, the inside is even better!! Wanna try it?

Recipe
1/3 c. butter, cold
2 c. all-purpose flour
2 T. sugar
3 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
About 3/4 c. milk
3 T. butter, softened
3 T. sugar
1 t. ground cinnamon

Instructions
1. Heat oven to 425. Grease 8 medium muffin cups.

2. Cut 1/3 c. butter into flour, 2 T. sugar, the baking powder and salt in large bowl, using a pastry blender or crisscrossing 2 knives, until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in just enough milk so dough leaves side of bowl and forms a ball.

3. Turn dough onto lightly floured surface. Knead lightly 10 times. Roll into rectangle, 12x10 inches. Spread 3 T. butter over rectangle. Mix 3 T. sugar and the cinnamon; sprinkle over rectangle. Cut rectangle crosswise into 6 strips, 10x2 inches. Stack strips; cut crosswise into 8 pieces. Place cut sides up in muffin cups.

4. Bake 16 to 18 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately remove from pan. Drizzle Glaze over warm biscuits. Serve warm.

Glaze
1/2 c. powdered sugar
2 - 2 1/2 t. milk

Mix ingredients until smooth and thin enough to drizzle.

Packing or Playing?

A couple days ago we finally began packing. We decided to do the linen closet first, so Celeste went to the garage to get a large box. Well, when I went to see if Celeste had gotten the box, I realized that the box was staring back at me!

So, of course, once she saw me she popped her head out of the box and smiled at me with those, "What?" eyes! Ahhh, caught playing!

By now I'm laughing at her, so she gets out of the box and takes it upstairs to be filled. That was the only box we filled that day, but, it was one more filled than we had before! I love progress!!
