I Would Like to Thank........

The Warrens for the wonderful Thanksgiving Day we had last night; the AMAZING food, great fellowship, and for sharing their mice problem! ;-) Love you Guys!! Yep, we have mice in our garage!! We don't know how many yet but, today we found droppings EVERYWHERE and Celeste heard something scurrying around! After finding the droppings, I put a glob of peanut butter on a piece of paper and left it on the garage floor. This evening I checked the peanut butter and I could see that some was gone! UUUGGGHHH!! So, we have about five traps in our garage and I am not looking forward to checking them in the morning. Hopefully, this infestation won't last long. Again, thank you to the Warrens for sharing their love for mice with us!! ;-)


UPDATE:

I would like you to meet Mr. Mouse #1!! We found out that mice do indeed love cheese!! ;-) The Mouse Cube is supposed to be the "Humane" way to get rid of mice so, my Dad let him go in the backyard. I hope he doesn't come back!

Update #2: We have caught 3 mice in 12 hours!!! WOW!!

"Nine voters" start a rush

Things were quiet at H.B. Zachary Middle School when Greg and Candace Sabo showed up with their seven kids in tow.

"Nine voters," he joked.

It was the start of a rush for Precincts 2088 and 2110, which had logged a total of 248 ballots just before school let out for the day. The day had started with a line that ran about 25 yards out of the school's main entrance, just reaching the red fire lane where several buses lined up at 3:30 p.m. to pick up youngsters at the school.

Things quickly slacked off after people left the school to go to work.

"Right at high noon we had no line, which surprised me," said Fred Koechley, presiding judge for the two precincts.

There were plenty of spaces in the faculty parking lot, part of which had been cleared to handle an expected crush of voters. The scene wasn't like Crossroads Mall, where Koechley, 57, of San Antonio encountered large numbers of voters during the primary - 1,700 a day over the first eight days, and more than 2,000 a day the last four.

But if things were too quiet at Zachry, he found a bright side.

Koechley said he is seeing an increase in the number of 18- to 25-year-old casting ballots. And after the Sabos showed up, voting for Constitutional Party presidential candidate Chuck Baldwin, more people arrived.

By 3:35 p.m., five of the six voting machines were occupied.

Greg Sabo, a 37-year-old fire inspector at Lackland AFB, checked in and quickly moved to a booth, the kids in tow.

"We're going to ID a couple of those guys," Koechley chuckled, eying Sabo's kids. "That's our job."
